W. Va. Code § 18B-1-6
The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (“WVSOM”) Commencement (“Commencement”) shall take place no sooner than 2 weeks after the end of the academic calendar for 4th year osteopathic medical students, and is to be scheduled one year in advance.
Off-cycle students who complete the requirements for graduation after April 30 of a calendar year may petition the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean to participate in Commencement, provided that their anticipated completion date will occur no later than December 31 of that year. In such case, a diploma will not be granted at Commencement. For students who complete the requirements after Commencement, diplomas shall be dated on the day in which all requirements are met. The WVSOM Registrar shall be responsible for delivery of such diplomas.
Off-cycle students may submit a written request to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean no less than 4 months in advance of Commencement to participate in the graduation activities including Commencement with the class with which they have been associated. No participation will be allowed unless approved by the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean.
