The Office of Compliance Services coordinates the efforts of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (“WVSOM”) to meet compliance obligations effectively and fosters ethical behavior and a culture of integrity through the reinforcement of WVSOM’s Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies.
The WVSOM Code of Conduct is a resource designed to guide each of us in our daily work and sets forth the expectations of all in the WVSOM Community. Our Code provides guidance and actions each of us can take, with confidence, that our commitment to integrity and accountability for our actions results in a positive work environment and leads to success in reaching our institutional goals.
Compliance Services is a resource for the WVSOM community. The Compliance Services Office supports the positions with primary responsibility for compliance. Compliance Services is available to assist members of the WVSOM community in clarifying obligations, assessing risk and prioritizing compliance projects, developing and providing training, maintaining lines of communication that allow anyone to report a concern, monitoring and assessing compliance efforts, and taking corrective action as necessary to address concerns. We look forward to working with you to help ensure we meet WVSOM’s legal obligations efficiently and effectively.

WVSOM recognizes its obligation to maintain the highest ethical standards and its commitment to ethics is reflected in the Code of Conduct. The WVSOM Community is expected to report concerns of suspected or alleged unethical conduct, noncompliance, violations of law, regulation, or institutional policy, fraud, or any other improper conduct. You should report your concerns through any of the following mechanisms.
WVSOM has established an anonymous reporting hotline, independently administered by a third-party provider Mitratech/Syntrio-Lighthouse, to allow for anonymous and confidential reporting of activities that may involve improper conduct or violations of WVSOM policies. All reports will be investigated promptly and discreetly by WVSOM, receiving careful consideration with the objective of addressing any improper conduct or violation of institutional policy. This hotline is not a substitute for, nor does it supersede, any existing reporting methods or protocols for handling concerns and complaints. If you would like to report your concern to WVSOM directly and are uncertain how to begin, contact Compliance Services.
Submit a complaint through the WVSOM Ethics and Compliance Hotline. This may be done anonymously or you may choose to identify yourself.
You are encouraged to discuss any concerns directly with your supervisor, director, or senior leader responsible for your area.
