W.Va. Code §18B-1-6
The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (“WVSOM”) provides reasonable and appropriate academic accommodations to students with disabilities in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended (“Section 504”) and the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended (“ADA”).
If a student has a qualifying disability and seeks academic accommodations based on that disability, the student may submit an accommodation application to the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs. The application must include current, appropriate documentation relevant to the disability.
A disability that may qualify a student for academic accommodations under Section 504 and the ADA is “a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities of such individual.”
An accommodation will not be provided if it would result in the fundamental alteration of the school’s curriculum, programs, services or activities, or if it would impose undue financial or administrative burdens on the school.
A history of accommodations may be taken into consideration but does not guarantee that accommodations will be granted at WVSOM. Likewise, granting of accommodations by WVSOM does not guarantee that accommodations will be granted by other institutions, testing centers or employers.
