GP 06-2.  Policy

2.1

The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (“WVSOM”) provides reasonable and appropriate testing accommodations to students with disabilities in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended (“Section 504”) and the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended (“ADA”).

2.2

If a student has a qualifying disability and seeks examination accommodations based on that disability, the student may submit an examination accommodation application to the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs. The application must include current, appropriate documentation relevant to the disability. 

2.3

A disability that may qualify a student for examination accommodations under Section 504 and the ADA is “a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities of such individual.”

2.4

WVSOM follows the standards adopted by the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (“NBOME”), as may be amended from time to time, when considering student requests for examination accommodations.
