On Aug. 20-21, WVSOM will host a groundbreaking for the $35 million expansion of the Fredric W. Smith Science Building at WVSOM, located at 400 Lee Street North, Lewisburg, W.Va.

The groundbreaking will take place at 5 p.m., Aug. 20, in conjunction with WVSOM Bio — our economic development forum, which will take place 8 a.m.–2:30 p.m., Aug. 21 — to discuss attracting bio industry organizations and investment to the Greenbrier Valley.

Wednesday, Aug. 20

  • 4 p.m. — WVSOM Campus tour.
  • 5 p.m. — Ceremonial Groundbreaking and comments at Fredric Smith Science Building
  • 6 p.m. — Reception on WVSOM Campus
  • 8 p.m. — Visit to Downtown Lewisburg

Thursday, Aug. 21

  • 8 a.m. — Breakfast and networking
  • 8:45 a.m. — Welcome to WVSOM BIO
  • 9 a.m. — Videos, Panels and Displays
  • 9 – 10:15 a.m. — Considering West Virginia's Bio and Pharma Industry — public and private research representatives offer insight.
  • 10:30 – 11:45 a.m. — West Virginia Opportunity — federal and state government representatives explain available programs, interest, and support.
  • 12 p.m. — Lunch, speakers and networking
  • 1 – 2:30 p.m. — WVSOM and The Greenbrier Valley Hub — overview of WVSOM Project and the Greenbrier Valley opportunity.
